INTERNATIONAL education is treated like the bastard child of Australia’s export industry with no political ownership, fractured policymaking, marketing and promotion, and an almost wilful disregard for the changing realities of the market. In a strongly worded communique out today, a coalition of education groups has called on the next government to implement a high-level ministerial council, as recommended in the recent Chaney report.
